Bootleg Theater Presents Mass Transit: A Wry Dance Vehicle of True-Life Bus Experiences.
LOS ANGELES, CA - As part of their 1st Dance Festival, the Bootleg Theater presents Jamie Benson and Andrae Gonzalo’s Mass Transit, a wildly theatrical, 40-minute performance installation directly inspired by real-life Metro happenings. Through overlapping vignettes of dance, gesture, noise, and movement, Benson's hybrid-brand of choreography infuses classic and barbaric dance techniques with a vaudevillian performance shtick to create a bastardized Broadway experience. A dynamic evolution of the original workshop, titled Go Metro and performed at Highways Performance Space in 2008, Mass Transit further observes the human condition by dramatizing public communities and the individual's role within them.
